If you’re anything like me, you’re probably already burnt out on quarantine and social distancing. Unfortunately, for the safety of billions of people, it’s important that we keep at it to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

That being said, here are Jarvisen’s tips for making the most of quarantine.

Find a New Hobby

This is one of the most popular reactions to our current situation of self-isolation and quarantine. Finding a new hobby--whether it be painting, dancing, working out, or reading--can be exceedingly helpful in stimulating your mind while in a seemingly boring or mundane daily routine.

When looking for a new hobby, make sure to take into account your resources, your existing hobbies, and any goals you’ve been putting off. Not having enough time is no longer an excuse! If you need an idea for a new hobby, here is a list of the most popular:

  • Reading
  • Drawing or sketching
  • Painting
  • Knitting
  • Puzzles
  • Gardening
  • Exercising
  • Makeup
  • Writing

The great thing about having a new hobby is that you can learn something new. A popular hobby is learning a new language, which you can do using your trusty Jarvisen Translator! There are so many hobbies out there, so if one doesn’t pique your interest, try another one!

Maintain a Balanced Diet

This one is a toughy. When there’s nothing to do, many of us end up making multiple trips to the fridge or pantry throughout the day. Unfortunately, this can lead to excessive snacking on unhealthy foods.

I am not saying to cut out snacking altogether because, who are we kidding, that’s nearly impossible in this situation. Instead, I am advising you to be mindful of what you are putting in your body because maintaining a healthy and balanced diet can contribute greatly to your immune system’s strength. And that’s the most important thing right now: health.

Stay in Contact

Humans are social creatures. Even the most introverted of us need some kind of human interaction. In times of social distancing, this kind of interaction is hard to achieve in a safe way. Not all of us are talented opera singers who can serenade others from their balconies, either.

Instead, though, we can turn to technological advancements for communication. From FaceTime to Facebook Video Chats to Zoom, there are so many options for communicating with your favorite people ‘face-to-face’. Don’t deprive yourself of the social interaction you need, but make sure you’re smart and safe while getting it.

Make a List

This may be my favorite piece of advice (mostly because it’s what both my mom and I are doing). If you are truly running out of options and bingeing Netflix just doesn’t have the same spark as it did before, make a list.

This list can be of chores you may need to do or little things you can do to brighten up your living space. Making a list helps to keep us moving and helps to stimulate our minds by moving from one activity to the next.

Bottom Line

This is a difficult time for all of us, but we are in it together. That means that the best thing we can do is stay home. So stay home and--in the event that you feel like your Jarvisen Translator will never get used--review this list and try out some of our tips!
